Lenovo owned Motorola has launched the Moto Z and Moto Z Play modular smartphones in India today, along with the Moto Mods. It is the more affordable variant of their latest flagship Moto Z smartphone. The Moto Z Play features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED Display with 403ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC along with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.

There’s a 16-megapixel Rear camera with Dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, Laser Autofocus, PDAF and a 5-megapixel Front-facing camera with LED Flash. It has a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button. It comes with an aluminum frame and glass back and has water-repellent nano-coating on its body.

The device packs in a 3510mAh battery with turbo charging support and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. Connectivity options includes Dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, USB Type-C & GPS.

Moto Mods

It is compatible modular accessories called the “Moto Mods”. They have 16 ‘magical pins’ located at the bottom back using which you can attatch the modules. The company has also launched 5 Moto Mods for the device which are as follows:

1. JBL SoundBoost Speaker – It can provide high-quality louder sound output than what you get with inbuilt speaker and gives enhanced audio experience.

2. Hasselblad True Zoom – It offers raw shooting mode, 10x optical zoom and Xenon flash

2. Incipio offGRID Power Pack – It can provide 22 hours of additional battery life

3. Moto Instashare Projector – It can convert the phone to a 70-inch projector

4. Moto Style Shell – A Simple Swapable Backplate which offers Premium finish like Wood, Leather, Patterned Fabric and let’s you change look of your smartphone.

Moto Mods

The Moto Z Play comes in Black & White colour variants and has been priced at Rs. 24,999. It will be available exclusively via and Flipkart starting from 17th October, 11:59 pm onwards.
