LeEco has finally entered the Indian Smartphone market. The Chinese company has launched their two smartphone Le Max and Le 1s in India. The Le Max is the high-end smartphone while the Le 1s is a budget smartphone priced at Rs.10,999 which offers a lot at this price tag. I have been using this smartphone. Here’s my review of the LeEco Le 1s.
Inside the box, you’ll get a sim ejector tool, 2A Fast charger and a USB Type-C cable and some user guide. The quality of the accessories provided is quite good.
Build & Design
The Le 1s looks very attractive as it comes with full-metal unibody design. It has rounded corners and metallic frame on the edges. It feautures 5.5 inch display and weighs 169gms. Also, it is just 7.5mm thick. The Le 1s doesn’t looks big nor bulky in hand.
On the front, it has a 5MP Front camera along with notification LED on the top and backlit navigation buttons on the bottom. The top has a 3.5mm audio jack and IR Blaster. On the right side, it has Volume buttons and Power button while the left side hosts Dual-sim card slot. (one Micro-SIM and one Nano-SIM). The Le 1s has a speaker grill on the bottom along with USB-Type C for faster charging. On the back, it has a 13MP Rear camera along with a LED Flash and a mirror-surfaced fingerprint scanner. The back has matte finish texture. It is slim, lightweight and also has nice curves on the edges which feels good to hold. It has impressive design and the smartphone looks quite premium.
Display, UI and Features
Le 1s features a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS Display with 403ppi pixel density. The Le1s has 500 nits brightness level which provide great experience of using the smartphone under sunlight. Le 1s also offers customization of display colour modes such as vivid, soft and natural depending on your preference. The Le 1s runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on the base with LeEco’s eUI on the top.
At a glance, the eUI looks cool with simple icons of apps. It comes without any bloatware. The eUI comes without app drawer, so you can swipe through apps directly from the homescreen. The Multi-tasking button shows quick settings, brightness, background running apps along with ram usage. The settings menu looks similar to the iOS with the separation of the app control settings on Le 1s. The eUI is a simple good looking vivid user interface.
The Le 1s has world’s first mirror-surfaced fingerprint sensor and the company claims it scratch-proof. It is easy to setup and it can store upto five fingerprints. The Fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. The Fingerprint sensor can also be used to capture pictures which is pretty handy feature for clicking selfies.
Le 1s has USB Type-C connector which support fast charging and the company claims that five minutes of charging is good enough to last 3.5hours of usage on Super Saving mode.
The Le 1s has a 13-megapixel Rear Camera and a 5-megapixel Front Camera. It’s camera interface is quite simple. Talking about custom settings, you can adjust the white balance, ISO level, exposure, sharpness, saturation and contrast levels. It comes with four modes to choose from – standard, panorama, video, slow motion. It comes with different colour filters and users can preview before they are shot. The rear camera focuses the object very fast and captures good images in daylight.
The Rear camera can also shoot 4K Videos, which is impressive. While using the camera we also noticed that both the cameras detects the face very fast and captures images without any shutter lag. The camera captures good amount of details in daylight while just like its other competitors in the market, the camera lacks low-light photography. Overall, both the cameras performs very well and captures good pictures.
Hardware, Gaming Performance & Benchmarks
Le1s is powered by MediaTek’s latest MT6795 Helios X10 octa-core processor with 3GB Ram with 32GB storage. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot so you can’t expand the storage. It packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery and comes with USB Type-C for faster charging. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, along with Wi-Fi Direct for streaming to a Wi-Fi Direct compatible smart TV.
The Remote Control app lets you control most infrared devices as a universal remote. It handles multi-tasking very well. It comes with a PowerVR G6200 GPU which ensures great gaming experience. We played Heavy games like Modern Combat 5, Frontline Commando 2, NOVA3 and Asphalt 8. While playing these heavy games, the device gets a bit warm but we didn’t faced any lag. We are impressed with its smooth gaming performance at this price tag.
