Gionee Marathon M5 Plus launched in China; features 6-inch AMOLED display, 5020mAh battery

Gionee introduced the new Marathon M5 Plus at a global launch event in China. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus features a 6-inch full HD screen and a fingerprint scanner in the home button. The Marathon M5 Plus has been priced at Yuan 2499 in China ( approx Rs. 25,567 ). This device is the successor of the Marathon M5 which was launched last month in India for Rs 17,999.


In terms of specifications, the new Gionee Marathon M5 Plus will come with a 6-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It also comes with a 2.5D arc symmetrical design along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.

It will be powered by a unspecified 1.3 GHz octa core CPU paired with 3GB RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone will include an internal storage of 64GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The device will run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Gionee’s Amigo 3.1 UI on the top. The M5 Plus has a 13MP rear camera, along with a 5MP camera on the front. Also, it is a 4G-enabled dual-SIM smartphone.

A 5020 mAh battery completes the package and the company claims that it can be fully charged in less than 2 hours. The company has also worked on saving the power consumed by both chips and the screen respectively.

The Gionee M5 Plus is available in Gold and Silver color variants and priced at 2,499 Yuan (approx $385 / Rs. 25,500) and will be available starting from December 25th in China. As of now, Gionee has not yet announced an Indian launch date for this smartphone. Stay tuned for more information.
