Lenovo has officially unveiled the Moto Z Play smartphone in their new Moto Z lineup. It is the more affordable variant of the Moto Z smartphone that was announced in June this year. The Moto Z Play features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED Display with 403ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC along with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. Unlike the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, the Moto Z Play smartphone is also compatible with modular ‘Moto Mods’ accessories.

Moto Mods

Speaking of the Moto Mods, there’s a new one. The company has unveiled a new moto mod called Hasselblad True Zoom for enhanced photography experience. The Hasselblad True Zoom mod offers raw shooting mode, 10x optical zoom, a 12MP sensor and a xenon flash.

It sports a 16MP Rear camera with Dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, Laser Autofocus, PDAF and a 5MP Front-facing camera with LED Flash. The Moto Z Play comes with an aluminum frame and glass back and has water-repellent coating. It has a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button.

The device packs in a 3510mAh battery with turbo charging support and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. Connectivity options includes 4G with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, USB Type-C & GPS.

The Moto Z Play comes in Black, Slate, White, Black Slate, Fine Gold and Sugar White colour options, priced at $449.99 (approximately Rs. 30,120) and will be out globally in September priced at €449. In the US, it will be available through Motorola.com and Verizon as Moto Z Play Droid Edition, priced at $408 ($17/month) on 8th September.
