Gionee M2017 Smartphone with Snapdragon 653 SoC, 6GB RAM, 7000mAh Battery Launched

Gionee has officially launched its new premium smartphone called Gionee M2017 in China. The Gionee M2017 features a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD AMOLED Curved Glass Display with an impressive pixel density of 518ppi and sapphire glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 (Quad 1.95GHz ARM Cortex A72 + Quad 1.44GHz Cortex A53) processor along with Adreno 510 GPU. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card support.

It sports a dual-camera setup (12MP + 13MP) with an LED Flash and a 8MP front camera. It comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button below the display, but doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device measures 10.78mm thickness and weighs 238 grams. It boasts a massive 7000mAh non-removable battery which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Instead of one battery module of 7000mAh, the phone carries two 3500mAh batteries inside which are charged seperately by two charging circuits.

The Dual-SIM smartphone runs on the Amigo 3.5 UI which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Connectivity options includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 Type-C, USB-OTG & GPS.

The Gionee M2017 comes in Gold and Black colour option and has been priced at CNY 6,999 (US $1005 / Rs. 68,200 approximately) for the standard variant while the Italian custom alligator leather back variant costs CNY 16,999 (US $2442 / Rs. 1,65,700 approximately). The smartphone is already up for pre-order in China. As of now, the company hasn’t announced its availability details for other markets across the globe.
