Gionee has announced a rebranding of its brand under the slogan ‘Make Smiles’ and launched its Flaghip Full metal body Elife S8 smartphone at MWC 2016. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED pressure sensitive 3D Touch Display which can sense 3 levels of force including ‘touch’ to select an app, ‘tap’ to preview the content, and ‘press’ to run the app. with 2.5D arc glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by 1.95GHz MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 octa-core processor along with Mali T860MP2 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The Gionee S8 comes with 16MP Rear Camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, RWB sensor, Laser Auto focus, LED Flash & a 8MP Front Camera. It also features a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.The smartphone supports Hybrid Dual-Sim (Micro+Nano) where the second sim slot can be used to insert microSD card. It measures 154.3×74.9x7mm and weighs 148 gms. It packs 3000mAh battery that supports fast charging. Gionee claims that the Gionee S8 supports Dual Whatsapp, so the user can log into two different accounts. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 UI on the top. Other connectivity options includes Dual-Sim, 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
The Gionee S8 will be available in Grey, Gold & Rose Gold colour variants. The smartphone is priced at €449 Euros ( around $495 USD / Rs.33,900 INR )
